The spotlight charges via the built-in solar cell by day and turns on automatically at night. It comes with both a stake and a bracket to allow multiple mounting options and an infrared remote which allows you turn on or off either of the lights individually or choose to use half the LEDs to conserve energy or for more subtle lighting effects. We tested this on a south-facing balcony, and it still received enough charge from the sun to shine both lights at full power for 8 hours. Note that the brochure only promises 4 hours at full strength (8+ hours for one light, 3 LEDs), but we consistently got more out of it. Your mileage may vary based on your solar azimuth.

Take the MySky out of its package, plug in some batteries, go outside, preferably at night although even when you can’t see them, the stars are still there during the day. Now let the MySky know your location. There are three different basic modes to using the night sky - Identify, Find, & Guided Tour. In ‘Identify’ Mode, the default, you will be presented with a real time LCD view of the night sky, complete with constellations. Simply point it to the object of choice in the real sky, and shoot. It will identify! You can also take a ‘Guided Tour’ of the best objects available to you at the moment based on your location, date & time. Finally, if you want to locate a specific object (planet, comet, galaxy, etc.) - you can navigate through the menus, select the item and your MySky will point out its location in the real sky.

    * Specifications: Sights - Illuminated red sights to easily point to objects
* Object Database - Database of over 30,000 celestial objects (planets, stars, nebulae, galaxies & more)
* LCD - 480 x 234 pixel full color display

There are many situations that call for a flashlight but quite often you need to have the light and both your hands free at the same time. A bit of a dilemma. The LED headlamp solves this problem by keeping your hands free and directing the light exactly where you need it. Not only that, but the LED headlamp is very efficient using small amounts of battery power.

Very helpful for getting light into those hard to reach places (inside computer cases, behind servers, under the car seat, etc.) Also great for lan parties when you need to actually stand-up and roam the terrain in search of more caffeine.

This tiny 8″ tall light-up wind turbine has been used by leading design team Jason Bruges Studio in a number of high profile installations. A simple puff of air will send the rotor blade spinning and get the LED lights glowing. Comes in either Red or Blue LED color choice.

Incredibly powerful hand gyroscope - in glowing Blue!!

All the fun and joy of the original, but with an oh-so-super-cool blue glowing LED built inside. The blue LED light starts to glow once the Powerball begins rotating and will glow ever brighter as the rpms are increased. Looks like something from a Tron movie and is especially fascinating in a darkened room. Trust us, you will be mesmerized by this little gem.

The Powerball is started out at about 2,500 rpm and is slowly worked up to speeds over 13,000 rpm. It’s a lot of fun to see just how fast the Powerball can rotate. There is a digital display built into the Powerball that can display the realtime rotor rpm as well as store the highest achieved rpm - a high score which will remain in the memory until you achieve a higher score or clear the memory. Use it around the office to see who can achieve and maintain the highest rpm speed. You will never get tired with your repeated attempts to continuously get higher and higher rpm speeds. It’s a lot of fun and dangerously addictive.

In addition to being a fun and intriguing gadget, the Powerball also is a great way to directly experience the Gyroscopic Effect (you know - angular momentum, linear momentum, centripetal force, precession and all those neat physics properties). It’s a compact little display of Newtonian physics at it’s best.

A bright way to be good to the Earth

You want to be environmentally conscious, but doing so can be damned inconvenient. For example, replacing one of your incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescents can save about $30 of power over the lifetime of the bulb. Not bad, but fluorescents are dim, and they flicker. Plus, while they do last 10 times longer than incandescents, throwing them away is a pain in the neck due to the mercury content.

These new LED light bulbs are tons brighter, don’t flicker, don’t require special handling, and last fifty times longer than incandescents! What’s more, they use even less energy than fluorescent bulbs. The Bright Star bulb puts out as much light as a 100 watt bulb, but uses only one-tenth the power. Plus, it can burn for 11 years!

All told, factoring in the cost of bulbs, that’s an estimated savings of $430 throughout the life of the bulb.

Sure, they cost more than a normal bulb, but they last so long and save so much in electricity costs, they more than make up for it in less than a year’s usage.

See in Complete Darkness!

You wake up in the middle of the night and you have to pee. Real bad. But you don’t want to turn on all the lights, for they will burn your eyes with their incandescence. So, you either injure yourself, stumbling in the darkness, or you wet your bed. Neither is fun. If you have some of these awesome Night Vision Goggles next to your bed, you’ll be able to see in the dark and pee in safety and ease.

Ok, so you might think these things are just toys, the type that say “night vision” but really just have a pop out flashlight. Nope. These are the real deal; true infrared night vision, for the price of a toy. You can’t imagine the happy dance we did when we realized these worked really well. Now we can sneak around like the ninjas we know we are, in the dark, watching all - and you won’t be able to see us. Unless you’re a ninja too, and have some EyeClops Night Vision Goggles of your own.

* This was, actually, the first test we put these through: peeing in the dark. It was a complete success. True story.

EyeClops Night Vision Goggles

    * See up to 50 feet in complete darkness!
* Uses IR technology for monocular (right eye) night vision
* Adjustable head strap - good for kids (ages 8+) and adults
* Fits over many small frame glasses
* Flip up eye piece (so you can see when the unit is turned off)
* Green and B/W selectable viewing screen
* Two sensitivity levels:
o Stealth Mode - goggles operate at partial power for close proximity viewing
o Surveillance Mode - goggles operate at full power and emit a barely visible ring of red light to let you see up to 50 feet away.

There are about 250 million television sets in the U.S. and we can guess that the majority of them are turned on a lot of the time. All in all, this is not bad (heck, we enjoy a good movie as much as anyone else) but there are some occasions when you just need to do everyone a favor and turn the TV off. A certain portion of television content is just plain questionable and about as healthy as second-hand smoke.

This small television remote that hangs on your keychain and turns off virtually any television with the press of button. “Now, what would be the purpose of such a device?” you may be asking yourself. Well, without revealing too much of our devious nature we can think of a few things. Imagine sports bars or annoying talking head shows that appear on monitors at the airport. Add to that your own creativity and we’re pretty sure you’ll come up with some ideas. All you need to do is press the button and keep pointing it at the TV until it turns off (which may take up to 69 seconds). The next 69 seconds will be spent quietly, or not so quietly, enjoying the perplexed expressions of the TV automatons.
